Ecological Artifacts

Modifications to our environment during the Anthropocene has had a devastating effect on ecosystems around the world. Ecological Antiquities is a body of work that captures a surreal magical realistic take on ecosystems recreating human artifacts as a way of adapting in a post-human world. Ecological memory is the concept of ecosystems building resilience from trauma, however, what if the trauma is perpetual, and everlasting? As the trauma is persistent, Ecological Artifacts views nature recreating human artifacts as a way of preserving traumatic events. All the work is created in cast metals, as a means of connecting the juxtaposition of permanence and industry with nature.
